MRI Results Aug and Oct 2017

Hi Everyone,

This blog post comes after 4 months. There have been two MRI results in the meantime - in August and October 2017. Both of them again showed "no significant change" compared to the previous reports. Although this does not sound very exciting, my doctor maintains that eight MRIs in a row ( 16 months ) with no growth in the tumor is an excellent result. He will continue to do the MRI every two months up to May 2018 before deciding about reducing the frequency.

My first MRI report in December 2015 showed the tumor dimensions of 2.0 x 1.4 x 1.5 cms and the last report in October 2017 shows it as 1.6 x 1.1 x 1.0 cms. There have been some ups and downs since the first MRI, but there seems to be a general decline in the size. Probably, the decline is so insignificant every time, that it is classified as "no significant change" as per normal medical terms.

Meanwhile, I continue with ayurvedic treatment to improve my overall health and reduce the symptoms of dizziness and improper vision. I underwent a 10 day treatment at the Sri Sri Ayurveda hospital in Bangalore in September 2017 during which I took 15 sessions of Hyper Baric Oxygen Therapy ( HBOT ) along with some other ayurvedic procedures. I plan to go again in February 2018.

Meanwhile, my trips back and forth between New Jersey and San Diego will continue. I am looking forward to spend some quality time with my grandson, Reyansh in the next trip to San Diego.

With love and gratitude,
Hasit

MRI Results Jun 2017

Dear ones,

The MRI from Jun 2017 shows no significant change in the tumor, even after stopping chemo from 06 May 2017. In fact, it possibly looks marginally smaller. There is an overall improvement in my energy and confidence levels, although my symptoms of mixed vision persist. As always, the doctor is pleased that the tumor hasn't grown for almost a year now. He will continue to observe my MRI reports every 2 months.

Along with Ayurvedic medicines and meditation programs that I have been taking for over a year, I have now started homeopathic medicines as well.

In other news, I became a grandfather earlier than expected on June 4th. :) My grandson, Reyansh, was born premature and is expected to come home soon. I look forward to spending exciting times with the little one in San Diego.

Meanwhile, my next MRI is on Aug 14th.

Yours lovingly,
Hasit

MRI Results Apr 2017

Dear ones,

The results of the MRI on 24th April, once again, showed no change in the tumor. So, the last five MRIs have shown two reductions and three results with no change. In other words, there is no growth in the tumor for the last five results ( almost 10 months ). The doctors are happy with these results and will continue to be so, if there is no increase in the tumor in future. The reduction in my symptoms is uncertain and only time will tell.

Dr Landolfi has prescribed the 12th and last round of chemotherapy from Monday, 1st May, 2017. He will then keep observing my MRI results every two months and will think of a different chemo drug only if there is an increase in the tumor in future. I hope that it will not be necessary.

Meanwhile, I am eager and excited to become a grandpa by August 2017 and spend time with my son, daughter in law and grandson, in San Diego, in the time to come.

Love,
Hasit

MRI Results Feb 2017

Dear all,

After my last blog update, I visited family, friends and colleagues in India. The trip was lovely and it was refreshing to meet everyone after a long time. My belief that the affection and love of our dear ones give meaning to life and make it worth living was strengthened even more.

The most recent MRI performed on 20 Feb 2017 shows, once again, that the tumor has not grown and is unchanged. The doctor has expressed happiness that the last 4 reports have not shown any growth in the tumor. However, my symptoms of dizziness and mixed vision persist and it seems like getting used to living with them is the best way to deal with it right now.

I have three more cycles of chemotherapy ending in April 2017. My doctor will continue to monitor me with MRI scans every 2 months thereafter. The next MRI is on 24th April 2017.

I will continue with my alternative Ayurvedic treatment and hope that it will help to reduce my symptoms further in the next few months.

Thank you for your love and support,
Hasit
